Just Like John Lennon

30 12 2011

How ironic is this?…If you look up “The Beatles’ influence on popular culture” you will find that John Lennon “popularized wearing solid white suits, reflecting an interest in minimalist design.”  And for (our Mod Bride) Jen’s husband Dave, here he is in his wedding attire in none other than a white suit!  Oh, I guess I forgot to mention the ironic part:  one of the bands Dave plays in is Glass Onion, a Beatles Tribute Band!  (And when he sings, he sounds just like John’s son Julian!)  At any rate, they make a groovy looking couple, don’t you think?  What a great way to end 2011!

She’s BAAAAACCCKKK…And This Time She Brought Her New Husband!

27 12 2011

After Jen (the “Mod Bride”) had her mod bridal session with us, she came back (all the way from the Greater Boston Area!) with her new husband to get their first official family portraits made together.  Because Jen is an artist (and an AMAZING one at that!), and her husband is an artist (he’s an AMAZING musician), we did some off-the-wall artistic shots with the two of them.  While they were gracing us in Lakeland, they learned that not only did they love R&M Photography, but they discovered and loved Mister Fish (our favorite local cuisine) as well!  YUM!

…And We Are Hypocrites!

24 12 2011

If you read the previous post, you know that we are happy to create and sell you a holiday card to fit your personality.  They are eye-catching, and they are easy.  You only have to put them in the envelope and address them.  However, as much as we love making them (AND selling them!), we don’t like receiving them.  Even though they are popular, they lack the personal touch of a handwritten card.  BUT with today’s busy schedule, who has time to hand-write two or three dozen cards?

So what’s OUR solution?  Well, for the past few years, Rachel has had her son write a personalized sign to hold such as “Merry Christmas, Dad!  Love, Jeremy,” for some immediate family, and then for everyone else, just one sign will do, without the personalization — “Merry Christmas!  Love, Jeremy.”  Then these are printed out as 4″x6″, and glued onto the front of a folded piece of cardstock.  Then the inside of the card is hand-signed, and for immediate family includes a 5×7 enlargement of a pose without a sign.

Don’t get me wrong…I LOVE Photoshop!  Honestly, I don’t think a single day has gone by in the past 8 or 9 years that I have not turned on my computer and done something in Photoshop, (so please don’t stop allowing us to make YOUR cards) but this is just a different kind of creative alternative to what’s popular now.

Caleb Feeds the Swans

21 12 2011

Well, since Megan and Vince drove all the way to Lakeland to bring Baby Caleb to see Hollis Garden, we couldn’t let them leave without a trip to Lake Morton to feed the swans!  Caleb doesn’t look as excited as his parents to be there, but give him a few months and we just know he will love it!

Our Rain Forrest Couple Visits Hollis Garden Again

21 12 2011

If you have been following our Blog for very long, you already know how much we adore Megan and Vince.  From the very first time we met them, we knew they were a dynamic couple.  They both really love art, they love the outdoors, and they really show their love of nature in the way they live their lives.  Every time we are around them, we want to go home and recycle something!  But seriously, they live green and they are just the warmest people who exude their passion so fluently that it just makes one feel inspired to appreciate nature more just by knowing them.  As such, it was only fitting that they brought their baby to Hollis Garden (where they had their engagement shoot) to have family portraits made.  Aren’t they a darling trio?!

Look at Them Now!

20 12 2011

If you remember the Hot! Hot! Hot! bride and groom from one of our July 2010 Blog entries, you will remember that Casey and Jeff are very fun and photogenic people.  And if you’ll remember, we introduced you to their daughter, Sophia, in May 2011.  Well, having a new baby has kept Casey and Jeff a little busy these past few months, so we haven’t gotten a chance to see them since Sophia was born…until we did their Christmas portraits.  Casey looks amazing (but then of course, she is always so beautiful!), Jeff was as handsome as ever, and little Sophia is just gorgeous!  (She is the spitting image of her Mama!)  And we’re hoping we will see a lot more of all of them in 2012!

Sweet Siblings

19 12 2011

You may remember our sweet little friend Elle who usually models an array of knitted (I’m sorry, crocheted) hats for us.  Well, we were missing her for a few months this year because her Mama had a new baby back around Easter and has busy ever since.  So when we were called to do Christmas portraits of Elle and Baby John, we were shocked by how much they had both grown!  They are both as sweet as ever, and of course, Elle had a blast showing off all her toys to us.  Hopefully we will get to see more of them in 2012!

Three Generations

18 12 2011

Recently we had the pleasure of welcoming a new family into the R&M Photography Family.  We photographed this family at Lakeland’s own Hollis Garden.  With their color outfits and happy smiles, they made for some very good subjects.  We hope they were as happy with their portraits as we were.

Christmas is for the Dogs

17 12 2011

When we went to shoot Christmas Card Portraits this year, we were surprised to learn that Tammy and Mark have added a new addition to their family…Besides their two new grandbabies, they have a new little dog to love!  We also found out that we need to publish a correction…For all this time, we have been singing praises for Tammy’s knitting us such beautiful prop hats, but it turns out she actually crochets them!  Either way, she is so talented, and if you know Tammy or Mark, you just have to love them and their whole family!
